Which Type of Massage Therapy Does Your Sore Body Need?

People need to work and this causes humans to push their bodies to the limits every day. With people just working and working, the body will reach a point where its muscles can no longer take it. Thus, making the body sore, stressed and weak.

Today, everyone can take a break through having a body massage to soothe aching muscles or just simply feel a brief moment of relaxation. Massage salons offer different types of massage therapy, with each one catering to a specific need of the body. Here are the most common massage techniques a massage parlor offers:

·         Shiatsu Massage- Shiatsu massage is a Japanese form of massage therapy, said to be similar to the Chinese acupressure. Shiatsu massage focuses on pressure points as well as including stretching and breathing for a more balanced body. Shiatsu benefits the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of a person.

·         Swedish Massage- Swedish massage is probably the most famous type of body massage out there. It uses tapping, kneading and soothing strokes to ease the body of muscle tension and sore joints. The different strokes under this massage therapy includes stroking, lightly grabbing and lifting the muscle, chopping, beating, fingers working in deep circles and shaking.

·         Deep Tissue Massage- Deep Tissue massage is best for people with chronic muscle tension deep below the muscles. While the Swedish massage is beneficial for the first layers of the muscles, deep tissue body massage goes further underneath. This type of massage techniques uses direct pressure, friction movements and slow strokes. Usually, fingers, thumbs and elbows are used here.

·         Sports Massage- Sports massage is best for people who play sports. You don’t need to be an athlete though, as long as you play sports, this massage technique can help with your sore muscles. The technique used here is similar to Swedish and Deep Tissue but sports massage is more focused on warming up the muscles and improving blood circulation. Further, sports massage can help relax and energize the athlete before competition and help in the recovery after a competition.

·         Neuromuscular Massage- This is a type of deep tissue massage that focuses on increasing blood flow, releasing pressure on nerves and reducing nerve pain. Neuromuscular massage helps in releasing tight and tense muscles those results in headaches and other body pains.

Massage therapy is really helpful in a number of ways, and if you haven’t given it a try, it’s time that you should. Your body deserves a break and what better way to treat your body to a relaxing rendezvous than a body massage.
