Pool and spa repair can be
confusing. But actually, it doesn’t need to be. From time to time, pools and
spa repair is needed to be done in order to replace worn or defective parts.
Most problems have several possible causes, hence several possible solutions.
If you choose to handle common problems like murky water to broken pumps on
your own, make sure to always consult manufacturer’s manuals before fixing or
using equipment. No matter if you rely on a service company to take care of
your pool or spa tub, you still need to do a few things on your own to ensure
your pool stays in good condition for years.
If you have a new pool or spa tub,
make sure that there is a vacuum gauge on the suction manifold and a pressure
gauge after the filter tank. Also, be sure that the whole thing is color coded.
If the erosion feeder is not secured to the floor, make sure to do some minor
repairs. All you need to do is drill about two or three holes in the floor. Pool
and spa repairs need replacements of all split baskets, all skimmer parts such
as weirs, lids, baskets, throttles, etc. Stock extra parts because they may
break or may get lost in season.
When your pool or spa tub has a
heater, you may also want to take this time to replace your heating element.
Disconnect the tub at its power source. Remove all screws that hold the heater
cover in its place, and then make and disconnect the element leads. Set the
multimeter to resistance, and then clip each probe to the terminals. If your
meter does not read low ohms, then replace the element by first draining the
water from the pool or tub. Disconnect all wires to the heating element,
switches and sensors that are necessary so that you can effortlessly remove the
element.
Some diagnostics such as leak
detections usually lead to pool and spa repair of some sort. You may not discover
that you have this problem until after you are up and operating. The middle of
summer is the best time planning for all the works.
