Want to feel better, have more
energy and perhaps even live longer? Fitness and exercise are here to help. The
health benefits of regular exercise and physical activity are hard to ignore.
And the benefits of being fit are yours for the taking, regardless of age, sex
or physical ability. Fitness and exercise is far beyond weight management.
Physical activity helps protect you from a lot of the following diseases.
1.
Heart disease or stroke has
been the number one problem these days due to the type of food intakes and vices.
Daily physical fitness and exercise can prevent heart disease and stroke by
strengthening your heart muscle, lowering your blood pressure, raising you
high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels, which are the good cholesterols as it
increases the heart’s work capacity. Fitness and exercise can blow off tension
by increasing levels of “soothing” brain chemicals like serotonin, dopamine and
norepinephrine. Little did you know that fitness and exercise actually work on
a cellular level to reverse stress’s toll on our aging process because working
out helps keep us from ruminating as it triggers stimulants in the brain the
helps release tension.
2.
Another problem as you age is
cognitive declination; as you grow older, our brains get a little hazy. As
aging and degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s kill off brain cells, the
noggin actually shrinks, losing many important brain functions in the process.
When challenging your brain, brain cells get to grow and complicated activities
also improve as it increases concentration, attention and coordination. While fitness
and exercise can’t “cure” Alzheimer’s, they can help shore up the brain against
cognitive decline that begins after age 45. Fitness and exercise starting the
age of 25 boosts the chemicals in the brain that support and prevent
degeneration.
3.
Making addiction a reason for
less physical activity is common. However, fitness and exercise help control
these addictions as it works as distractions making people de-prioritize
cravings. Fitness and exercise can help reboot the body clock, helping people
hit the hay at the right time.
Crucially, you can hit your weekly
activity target but still be at risk of ill health if you spend the rest of the
time sitting or lying down. Make sure to have a good and progressive routine
for a successful fitness and exercise program.
