Grief and loss are great
challenges that every person may experience once in a while. Grief and loss can
be caused by death of a family member, a friend, or even a pet. It can also be
caused by the ending of a relationship—may it be friendship, romantic, or any
others. Some people may think that grief and loss is just a matter of moving on
and adapting to the normal world. Grief and loss is not alleviated just by
readjusting your feelings towards it; it goes beyond showing emotions and
expressions which seem to be illogical and unreasonable. Grief and loss is not
only contained within sadness—anger, guilt, and stress may come along.
Grief and loss may cause many
things. Because of the overwhelming impact, a person may create a new persona
after the loss—they might forget who they are before the incident happened.
This can be worse especially if this would result to mental or psychological
disorder. Worst cases result to multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia,
and many others. Proximity to the lost person can also cause frustrations and
upsetting feelings. Because of the closed area the person is staying in, the
memories can create constant cloud of despair.
Some people are given
anti-depressants and hormone-boosting drugs to alleviate stress and force the
body to release happy-hormones. Some are prescribed to find comfort in food,
drinks, or other fixations. These recommendations are only for short term
relief. These procedures only numb or paralyze the feelings but they don’t
erase the feeling of despair and sadness. That’s why, some psychiatrists and
therapist recommends hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapy provides a venue for
people suffering from grief and loss to deal with their memories without
encountering the negative feelings and emotions they usually face. Through
hypnotherapy, happy memories are triggered naturally. But, hypnotherapy should
only be done by professionals. Sometimes, uncontrolled release of happy
memories may overwhelm the patient and may cause graver despair. Hypnotherapy
is done by experts to get the patient away from being stuck in the mode of
anger or depression by clearing emotional blocks. By doing hypnotherapy, moving
on with life will be easier.
The sessions for hypnotherapy
depend on the case being dealt with. For normal circumstances, patients are
advised to do hypnotherapy 2-3 sessions for 2 weeks. Though total alleviation
from grief and loss is not guaranteed after every session, a person is
guaranteed that every session is a step of getting out from depression. It is
better to have the cased assessed by hypnotherapy experts.
