TREE CARE TIPS FOR SPRING SEASON

Newly planted trees – those planted within the past three years – require regular water and care to thrive. Failing to do so can result in your tree not reaching its full potential size, as well as making it vulnerable to pests, disease, or death. Tree trimming service companies offer tree care services depending on the need and the season to follow.

If you are a new tree owner, you may want to look into these considerations:

1.    Tree Pruning. It is common to do tree care after the winter season; however, there are types of pruning fit for the upcoming season. Pruning during dormancy is the most common practice. It results in a vigorous burst of new growth in the spring and should be used if that is the desired effect. It is usually best to wait until the coldest part of winter has passed. Some species, such as maple, walnuts and birches, may “bleed”—when the sap begins to flow. This is not harmful and will cease when the tree leafs out.
2.   Property Value. Tree care helps protect your home value and maximize the return on investment.  Regular inspections and consistent maintenance that addresses tree health, safety and curb appeal can increase property value too. Preventive tree care is also good and less costly remedial treatments for fully developed problems.
3.     Fertilizers and Feeds. A tree planted in a sunny location with good soil and covered with organic matter doesn’t need extra fertilizer: it makes its own food through photosynthesis. Still, many homeowners overdo tree care and think that their trees need an annual dose of fertilizer that adds minerals and nutrients to the soil. In fact, the opposite is true. Over-fertilizing can poison a tree’s root system, cause excessive and weak growth, and pollute watersheds.
4.     Tree Trimming Services. There a lot to consider before doing tree trimming services. Be conscientious about the size of the branch that you are going to remove. If it is less than five centimeters in diameter, removing it is fine. If it is between five and 10 centimeters in diameter, you might not want to do it. If it is more than 10 centimeters in diameter, you should only do so if you have a really good reason.

If you want to keep your landscaping attractive, you should consider having your trees trimmed and pruned. Ask about tree trimming services to help remove dead or broken limbs and helps keep your tree healthy.
