HOW DO I MANUALLY DO MY GARAGE DOOR REPAIR?

Convenience is important in the lives of humans. As much as we want to give convenience to our family, we also want to give convenience to our cars. Having a well-maintained and fully operational garage is one of the conveniences we can give to our car—and to our family as well. Garage door, the largest mechanically operated part of your garage, does not only provide security but it may also provide protection from heat and other environmental elements. Listed below are some procedures to manually check and have a garage door repair.

1. Check the bolts of the mounting brackets that hold the tracks to the walls. It is important to constantly check if the bolts are loose to avoid further damage. You have to check the quality of the tracks—it may have dents, flat spots, or other damaged area. You can remedy a damaged track by pounding it with a rubber mallet or hammer against a scrap wood. Don’t be too hard on your tracks. If you think that it should be replaced, replace it!

2. Align your tracks. It is important to check the alignment of your tracks since it provides the mechanism of rolling up your garage door. You can tap misaligned tracks without removing the screws and bolts.

3. Inspect for dirt on the tracks. Dirt may prevent full functionality of the tracks. Dirt may include hardened grease and clogged dust. You must remove the dirt thoroughly with a concentrated household cleaner. Ensuring that every part is clean may lessen the frequency of your garage door repair.

4. Check for other things to be done in your garage door repair. It may have loose hardware that needs to be tightened. This may include spring plates, hinges, and loose screw. For loose screw, just check if you are connecting the right things then tighten the screw. For spring plates, you have to check if it needs to be repaired or replaced. Damaged hinges may cause sagging door at one side. One common problem with hinges is the enlargement of screw holes which can be serviced by replacing the screw and tightening it. Loose hinges can be fixed by reapplying wood glue to properly attach it to the wall.

These are just manual jobs that you can do for your garage door repair. Always assess if you can do your garage door repair alone. You have to consider that if you further damage your garage door, it may cost you large. Consulting experts will not do harm. Garage door repair is not an easy job and is a job you can’t afford to be loosely done.
