INCREASING HOME VALUE THROUGH KITCHEN DESIGNS

Have you started planning for a home improvement? Are you full of advice on things like counters and cabinets and the best way to get a good deal from a contractor on kitchen designs? The kitchen home improvement process is grueling, and if done correctly, very rewarding in terms of pleasure-factor (that is to say, how it feels to spend time in a new space).

There is no way to avoid feeling tired during some stage of the home improvement project, but you can make your life easier by avoiding these common mistakes:

1. Never overdo details of your kitchen designs.
Kitchen design accents such as pediments over stoves and plaster mouldings on cabinet fronts can represent decorative excess. Remember that your kitchen design should be compatible with the rest of your home.

2. Never overlook your kitchen ventilation.
Kitchen design include atmosphere and comfort ,thus, as you cook, whether you opt for an industrial-like stove or go with a traditional 4 burner model, you should overcompensate when it comes to an exhaust system (especially if you do any sort of consistent or serious cooking).  Moreover, try and get your stove installed on an outside wall so that you don’t have a long run to the outside.

3. Never forget your storage and service.
Cabinets are just cabinets, right? Wrong! They’re another opportunity to inject your kitchen design and make your cooking process more efficient. Top quality slides and hinges means cabinet doors will stay closed and drawers won’t stick. Stay away from drawers that are stapled together or made of particleboard. For interiors, wood veneer is more durable than melamine, laminate or particleboard.

4. Never forget lighting.
We live in an older type home and have original, and some replica, lighting throughout our house. To make mood but still maintain a good working space lighting, make sure to choose pendants over the main work surface and sink, but some general task lighting over the entire kitchen would have provided more light.

Improving Kitchen Design with Cabinets

Before you start shopping for new kitchen cabinets, make sure you have a well-thought-out plan for your kitchen renovation. Always consider how long do you plan on staying in the home, what other improvements are standard for similar homes in your area and the types of kitchen layout you plan on using.  Kitchen cabinets are usually expensive but with the right guidelines, it would benefit you in the long run.

Make a game plan- Kitchen cabinets are the most practical and convenient work areas in any dwelling. Before choosing a look, start with an accurate scaled floor plan of the existing space with door, window and other architectural dimensions noted. Location of present utilities, such as electricity, water and sewer connections are also important to document, especially if the remodel involves spatial reconfiguration.

·        Choose quality materials. Kitchen design is not solely about looks, materials work as the basis of elegance. Solid wood remains a popular choice for kitchen cabinets, but other materials like metal, thermo foil, stainless steel, and melamine are readily available. Choosing materials will depend on the kitchen design and the space your kitchen has. If you have the old country home kitchen design, wood is a good choice for you; but if you home has the minimalist feel, then metal works.

·      Kitchen cabinet finish. When talking about wood, wooden cabinets can be left in their natural state since they show soft and effortless designs. However, there are also services available such as distressing, glazing, crackle etc. that hide more dust and dirt compared to dark varnish finishes.

·         Beware of space eaters. Avoid placing a bulky cube in the middle of the room.  It is best to have islands that have an open, airy look. Ideally, an island should be unencumbered by appliances, but if you want it to house a dishwasher-sink combo or a cooktop, try to maintain the light look of a leggy harvest table.

·         Tone down the details. Your kitchen design should be able to complement each other. If you want your cabinet to be the center of attraction, then go ahead; let your artistic side play into it. But if you tend to have that subtle and quiet feel, decrease the accents.

Unless you are an experienced do-it-yourselfer, it's advisable to enlist the help of a kitchen design expert, or cabinet designer in order to establish the most effective plan for your space and determine the cabinet's dimensions and specifications.

Seven Reasons Why You Need Kitchen Remodeling Done

For many homeowners, kitchen remodeling is just about changing kitchen designs. But in fact, it’s more than just changing what the kitchen looks like. Nowadays, form isn’t always what homeowners are after. For the most part, function has become a priority in remodeling the house, too.

While kitchen remodeling may seem tedious and expensive, there are actually very valid reasons why this is the time to get it done. Are your kitchen cabinets starting to break apart? Is your kitchen too cluttered already? Take a look at these seven reasons to remodel the kitchen and see if you can relate to any of them:

·         Functionality. Every family wants a functional kitchen. Kitchen remodeling can turn the old kitchen into a place where everything you need is there. It can also be designed according to your cooking and prepping needs. A kitchen designer can talk you through various kitchen designs that can work for you.

·         Comfort. Mothers usually stay in the kitchen for hours and hours in a day. It will really help to make the kitchen a more comfortable place to stay in. Adding new kitchen cabinets to make room for more storage will make things more comfortable in the kitchen too.

·         Safety. Remodeling the kitchen also means upgrading the safety measures in your kitchen. New equipment and new appliances call for new safety measures. A kitchen designer can help you modify your kitchen layout to make it safer for the family.

·         Organization. No one wants a messy kitchen, mother sure doesn’t like that. Changing and adding kitchen cabinets, as well as improving the layout can make room for more storage in the kitchen. And when there’s more space in the kitchen, the easier it will be to organize things there.

·      Aesthetics. A kitchen that is elegantly designed makes it a room for families to bond better. No one would like to stay in a kitchen that has poor lighting or has a very negative aura. Modern kitchen designs are available to improve the aesthetics of your kitchen and make it one of the beautiful places in your home. You can even be proud showing it off to guests.

·        Value. While homeowners think that kitchen remodeling is an expense, the truth is, it is an investment. When a kitchen is remodeled and updated, it increases the value of a home and returns more than two-thirds of the remodeling cost.

·       Your Style. Your kitchen can be a reflection of your style and design aesthetics. You can take control of every single aspect.

With so many kitchen designs to choose from, you might be better off following your heart on this one. Nonetheless, when you do remodel your kitchen, make sure you upgrade everything from the walls, kitchen cabinets, countertops, floors and layout to make it all worth it.
