REASONS WHY YOUR GARAGE DOOR DOESN’T WORK

Homeowners rely on their garage door to open smoothly and close securely each and every time they use it. These heavy doors cause problems, however, if they fail at their job. Four of the most common garage door problems do not require a call to an expensive professional. Learn some of the garage door repairs and keep your house and cars secure.

1.       Garage door spring problems. Garage door torsion springs are the most common part to break on a garage door because they simply wear out over time. When your springs wear out, replacing them is not a DIY-friendly repair; contact a garage door specialist for a thorough inspection.
2.       Faulty door track problems. If this is the problem then you will be able to tell by seeing if your garage door rollers are literally off track. If your garage door panels are not damaged, then you do not need to replace your garage door. However, the rollers do need to be put back on the track which should be done by a professional.
3.       Broken garage door hinges. When you can plainly see you have a broken garage door hinge or hinges, do not operate door until door is repaired. The garage door hinges that run up the left and right hand side of garage door will cause the most damage because the door panels come apart from each other and cause all kinds of problems with the door and door opener.
4.       Garage door clicker and opener do not work. There’s usually an LED light display that will either alert you of the battery life or help you diagnose another problem with the garage door sensor or car remote, but always check the batteries first. The solution could be as simple as putting in a fresh pair of batteries. If that doesn’t help, consult your owner’s manual. Usually issues that arise with just the car remote are the quickest and easiest to fix. In a worst case scenario, you may just have to reprogram your remote to signal correctly to the motor.

Maintenance and repairs on a regular basis cut down costs on garage door repairs in the future. Thus, it is best to plan ahead before furnishing your home.
