OPTIMIZE YOUR BOXES!

Storing and moving things are not an easy job. Storage services are offered for people whose new homes or new places are not yet ready for moving. To avoid excessive expenses in storage services, it is important to pack your things right. Storing your items right will provide you ease in storing and moving these items, eventually. Here are some techniques in packing things right.

1.       Over-packing. Don’t pack heavy things in one box. It is important that you maintain the weight of your boxes. First, this is to avoid unwanted box breakage. Secondly, it is easier to carry lighter boxes when storing and moving. It is more desirable to have more boxes that are lightweight than have less heavier boxes that would give you back pains.

2.   Books and Papers. Important papers and documents should be wrapped or placed in special envelopes. Proper labelling should also be done to avoid loss or confusion. It is important to wrap papers or documents with water resistant materials to avoid degradation. Packing many books in one box is not advisable because it will make your box significantly heavy. If you are going to pack some books, you may put them in alternate manner so that the spine of a book can support the pages of another.

3.       Color-coding. To avoid loss or being mistaken as waste during storing and moving, small items should be wrapped in color-coded materials. It is highly suggested to use bright colors to give much attention to these small details. Tissue papers, colored wraps, or plastic containers may be used to store these small items.

4.   Glassware. Due to improper storing, glass wares are damaged and broken. Storage services may experience turbulence from earthquakes or other environmental disturbances that may cause breakage to fragile items. It is advisable to wrap each glass ware individually. This may be tedious but this would save you money, eventually.  Bowls can be wrapped individually, nested, and wrapped again as a whole new package or group. Additional cushioning may be added to ensure the safety of your glass wares. Everyday items like bubble wraps, pads, cloth, or newspapers can be used as extra cushions.

5.  Appliances. You need much preparation when storing and moving large or major appliances. Food should be emptied from refrigerators and freezers. Molds can be avoided by ensuring that the interior of the appliances are well cleaned and dry. All hoses should be disconnected and wrapped separately. Electrical wirings should also be taped to the appliances to ensure that they will not stray out and mess up when storing and moving is done.

These are just of the techniques to be considered in packing your things right. By considering this, you may save time from storing and moving your items. Money may also be saved if strategic packing is done. Lastly, you may also save time if you can manage all your boxes easily.
