Before, During, and After Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustment is a technique used to correct function of the spine or joints. This manipulative technique may be applied varying amplitude, amounts of recoil, and lengths of lever. Chiropractic adjustments not only benefit the bones but the immune system as well.

Chiropractic adjustment boosts the immunity. Since viruses and bacteria are all over the place, all ages are prone to all kinds of sicknesses. Though viruses and bacteria do not affect people at the same time, it is best to keep them away especially from the kids. As the nervous system controls and regulates organ, tissue and cell functions in your body. If a person has a misaligned spine, it could then affect the nervous system and weaken the immune system. Chiropractic adjustment helps align and restore nerve supply. Another benefit of chiropractic adjustment is its effects on your digestive system. The nerves that run through the thoracic spine control the stomach functions and regulate the signals that normalize the flow of elimination of toxins.

Before chiropractic adjustments, make sure that your spine must be at rest. When muscles around you are stressed, it is more difficult to manipulate and apply pressure to your vertebrae. It is required for you to consult your internist before chiropractic adjustments to ensure clearance from metabolic and cardio problems. During adjustment, the skeleton should be in a resting, neutral position to ensure proper alignment. Never be afraid to tell your therapist the level of pain you are in during chiropractic adjustment to reduce occurrence of further damages. Soreness may occur after the adjustment, particularly if the vertebrae were significantly out of place prior to being adjusted. Note that awkward and uncomfortable symptoms can be expected in the first two to six weeks of care for new clients, particularly in the case of patients who have never been adjusted, or suffer from chronic conditions.

After chiropractic adjustment, it is important for you to practice proper body alignment and posture.  A regular set of exercises are given to you by your therapist and should be done religiously. Remember that there are three sources of subluxation: physical, chemical, and emotional stress, which should be avoided.
