PRI T1 technology was discovered as a system that integrates speech and
data on the same lines by adding features that were not previously
available in the plain old telephone network. This involves the use of
Internet connections and are made with three types of access interfaces;
the basic rate interface, primary rate interface, and broadband ISDN.

PRI T1 is common in call centers, multi-point offices and nursing
homes, which are in need of caller ID data. This is provided by the T1
service; the channelized version is composed of 24 channels that can
provide 24 telephone calls. Since there is no separate signaling
channels, the signaling information make use of on hook or off hook
features that are not carried by the T1 line alone, unfortunately.
