WHAT CAN VOICE T1 AND PRI DO FOR MY BUSINESS?

How companies transact business with has greatly changed over the years. In this day and age, everything is digitalized. Businesses need to upgrade their communication lines if they are to cope with these changes.

What is Voice T1?

Voice T1 is divided into two services; the channelized and unchannelized. In the unchannelized voice T1, 24 channels are provided as a telephone call; these phone lines are provided in place of the 23 that can be accommodated by the PRI (or Primary Rate Interface which will be discussed later).

The downside of the unchannelized voice T1 is that there is no separate signaling that means signaling information that tells when the phone is hooked or unhooked is lost. The channelized voice T1 does not have the capability to provide any caller ID, thus PRI service is needed.

What is PRI?

PRI or Primary Rate Interface carry a higher capacity service intended for commercial centers and other offices that require fast and accurate communications. The two systems are capable of working together to provide your application with larger space for relaying data. Being connected has never been this easier!

Voice T1 vis-à-vis PRI

There are instances where Voice T1 and PRI are provided to you as separate services; and there are factors that can identify which type of service your company needs. In terms of simultaneous voice calls, Voice T1 is capable of handling 24 channels while PRI can only handle 23 as PRI uses a specific type of channel. Also, the ability to store phone number is highly different from Voice T1. Voice T1 can store up to 24 numbers max, while PRI has an unlimited storage. Voice T1 is advanced at the caller ID system, which can provide your application with higher security systems. Another advantage of the Voice T1 is that it has the ability to provide conference on channel (flash) without the need for the trunk to trunk technique.  In terms of phone system configuration, Voice T1 is more advanced as it can use either keys or PBX while PRI is limited to the phone system configuration.

Voice T1 and PRI work together for the advantage of providing clients with the exact type of service costs in an area. But if you are having difficulty in choosing the perfect phone system for your needs, seek the help of professionals in the field.

Voice T1 Channels versus ISDN PRI

Voice T1 lines can transmit 1.544 megabits per second, or can be used to transmit 24 digitized voice channels. Hence it can be used for phone service up to 60 times faster than a traditional modem. In that way, a business with 8 phone lines may save money by getting a dedicated voice T1 line to loop to the place of business from the local phone company office.

Voice T1 connections have 24 channels in total. Typically, for voice T1 protocols, 23 channels are used as B-Channels and 1 channel is used as a D-channel. For this reason, the frame structure of a voice T1 connection is said to be 23B+1D where the D-channel is located ion timeslot 23. The B-channels are used for voice transmit and the D-channel is for signaling. The common denominator between voice T1 and ISDN PRI is the circuit that is provided at the demarcation point is based on the electrical specifications for the T1 trunk lines and are originally developed for the Bell System. It runs at 1.544 Mbps with copper wire for transmit and receive.

If your office is equipped with voice T1, it means that the phone company has brought a fiber optic line into your office. A voice T1 line can carry about 192,000 bytes per second that would be roughly 60 times more data than a normal residential modem. It is also extremely reliable: a voice T1 can generally handle quite a number of people. For general browsing, hundreds of users are easily. ISDN PRI, on the other hand, offers two speeds of service: BRI or basic rate interface and PRI or Primary rate interface. BRI is a low capacity service intended for residential and small business applications. PRI is the high capacity service carried on T1 trunk lines between the main offices to your location.

Voice T1 can be expensive, but prices are dropping as demand grows. Internet service providers need not to sacrifice money since voice T1 is sure to provide more advanced standards on communications.

Voice T1 and PRI: In Collaboration

Voice T1 is divided into two services; the channelized and unchannelized. In the unchannelized voice T1, 24 channels are provided as a telephone call; these phone lines are provided in place of the 23 that can be accommodated by the PRI. The downside of the unchannelized voice T1 is that there is no separate signaling that means signaling information that tells when the phone is hooked or unhooked is lost; thus the need of using the least significant bit. The channelized voice T1 does not have the capability to provide any caller ID, thus PRI service is needed.

There are instances where Voice T1 and PRI are provided to you as separate services; and there are factors that can identify which type of service your company needs.in terms of voice calls simultaneous, Voice T1 is capable of handling 24 channels while 23 for PRI as PRI uses a specific type of channel. The ability to store phone number is highly different from Voice T1, since Voice T1 can store up to 24 numbers max; while PRI has an unlimited storage. In terms of phone system configuration, voice T1 is more advanced as it can use both keys or PBX while PRI is limited to the phone system configuration. If you are having difficulty in choosing the perfect phone system for your needs, make sure to stick with the guidelines in order for you to avoid future problems.

Voice T1 and PRI work together for the advantage of providing clients with the exact type of service costs in an area.

ISDN PRI T1: A faster Way of Keeping in Touch

Relaying messages is one problem encountered by most business establishments. The shipping industry is one that experiences the difficulty in good weathers such as the spring season, where everybody are in the mood to make amendments and deliveries. Voice T1 is a start of the improvements that had given people accurate services.

What is ISDN-PRI T1?

ISDN PRI T1 is a primary rate interface (PRI) service that consists of 23 channels on both voice and data whether local or long distance; these services also include conference calls, fax and dial-ups with and increased efficiency in sending such messages. Inquire whether ISDN PRI T1 is better than a regular voice T1 to be sure of your money’s worth.

imagesWhat is the difference between ISDN PRI T1 and a voice T1? And how do they work?

ISDN PRI T1 works in two speeds of services, which are the BRI or the basic rate interface and the primary rate interface. BRI is working in lower capacity compared to the ISDN PRI T1, which is carried by voice T1 trunk lines between the central office and other locations. Another edge of an ISDN PRI T1 is the robust features like the caller ID and the direct inward dialing.

Voice T1 helps in lessening signaling problems such as slow catch and cluttered data. Voice T1 is actually the hardware used in delivering the data to a location. The ISDN PRI T1 works at a speed of 1.544Mbps with the right type of wire; while T1 works by accommodating even traditional phone calls at a lower speed. Voice T1 can be divided into channelized and unchannelized. In terms of independence in function, channelized voice T1 is not a good choice because you will need the help of ISDN PRI T1 in larger situations, and in terms of speed compact features, unchannelized is not recommended due to the need of routers and other accessories.

The first thing you should think about in putting up a business or in picking home telecom service is whether it is  fit for your needs and interest.
