Bridal Hair Color: Tips from a Hair Color Specialist

Wedding day preps happen months in advance. Some even do it for a year. There are the obvious to-do’s like dress fittings, food tastings, guest lists, seating charts, etc. But one thing you should never ever forget is your bridal hair for it requires plenty of advanced planning, too.

If you are planning to dye your hair for your wedding day, remember to stay within two shades of your natural hair color. Also, since this is your wedding day, you may want to splurge and have your hair color done by a hair color specialist to prevent any hair color mishap.

Here are some tips from a hair color specialist to ensure that your hair looks vibrant with its new color on your wedding day.

1. Consult your hair color specialist at least three month before the wedding date. This will give you enough time to make several appointments to discuss how you are going to wear your hair and what kind of hair color you want.

2. Bring your veil and hair accessories in the consultation. Certain wedding hairstyles require a few strategically placed highlights to catch the light and highlight your face. Knowing what your veil looks like as well as if you will use shimmery stones or little flowers will help you hair color specialist  tweak the color so those things really stand out.

3. Get your hair color or highlights done at least a week before the wedding. Hair color and highlights look best after the color adheres to the hair. It takes about a week for that to happen.

4. Wait at least two days after your hair color treatment before shampooing. You want to give hair color time to settle before washing it. Make sure that you use a shampoo that is safe for color-treated hair in order to reduce color-stripping.

5. Lastly, keep your hair well conditioned. Healthy, moisturized hair really makes highlights and hair color shine. Have your hair deeply conditioned a day before the big day.

Armed with these tips, you are ready to face the world and be the center of attention on your wedding day.

Should You or Should You Not Get Hair Extensions?

 images

Every woman wants to look beautiful but not everyone is blessed with beautiful hair. Not to mention, those who made the mistake of cutting their hair too short only to miss their long hair. Is there a solution for this? You can call up your favorite Tampa hair salon and ask if they do hair extensions. If they do, you’d want to consider it especially if you have a special event coming up soon.

Should You Get It?

Many brides today opt for bridal hair extensions because they want to look their best on their wedding day. Longer hair gives the Tampa stylist more options to style the hair. You should get it if you want the perfect bridal hair for your big day.

You should get hair extensions if you can’t wait for your hair to grow and you're itching to sport your dream hairstyle. It will give you and the stylist at the hair salon flexibility on what to do with your hair. If you get bored with it, you can simply go to your Tampa hair salon and get it removed.

You should get it if you fear of getting your long locks chopped off. Many might not understand but it takes work and patience to grow the hair long. Hair extensions can save you from trimming precious inches off of your hair.

Do you want to experiment with hair color? Your real hair won’t have to suffer the consequences since you can choose the colors of the extensions. This way, your hair will be safe from chemical damage and you’d see the color that looks best on you.

Should You Not Get It?

Do not get hair extensions if you’re not ready to pay for it. These things are pretty expensive. The more natural-looking the hair extension is, the more expensive it will be. Also, the cost will depend on its volume and length.

Your Tampa hair salon can attach the extensions in different ways and sometimes, there will be discomfort and pain felt. Extensions can be braided to the hair, knotted or attached using heat. The glue used can damage your hair.

You’d want your bridal hair to be perfect. But you must know that the process of attaching extensions on your hair will take eight to nine hours.

Extensions can instantly enhance your appearance, especially for brides who dream of the perfect bridal hair. But, there is always a price for beauty and you should be prepared to pay for that.

The Bridal Hair for Your Face Shape and Dress Cut

images
It is most important to be focused on how you would look like in a certain hair style rather than forcing the hairstyle to fit your dress, your face shape or even your body shape. Today, bridal hair dos come in soft, girly and natural styles to make women look younger.

Oval Shape- you are lucky to have this face shape since this is generally considered the perfect face shape for any hair style. There are no prominent angles to cover and sizes to minimize. A soft off shoulder dress is a good choice as it emphasizes and up-do or a half-do.

Square shape- this face shape is more angular and has more width than length. The jawline is the most prominent part of your face and bridal hair with more volume at the top of your head and loose soft curls to cover and lessen the angles that will result to a slimmer and longer face shape. A V-neck dress style is perfect to help draw more attention to your shoulders than your protruding jawline but make sure to be easy on accessories to avoid making your neck look shorter.

Round shape- same as square-faced women, the same rule applies; however, instead of having curls, straight is in. The round curves on your face call for straighter and flowing bridal hair dos to make your face appear a bit angular. A loose bun is okay but it is suggested that you go for half- down styles with loose straight streaks that do not entirely cover the sides of your face. A strapless dress style is a good choice for this face shape since it gives way for your bridal hair do.

Long shape- long shape face is not as difficult to style. It only takes bangs and low lateral bridal hair dos to make your face look smaller and more feminine. Soft curls are good for long face shape as it draws less attention to the vertical enhancement. However, exaggerated curls are not advisable because it produces a loud style that can outrun your dress. A simple coat neck cut dress style will bring elegance and feminism to your bridal hair.

Dress styles and bridal hair are the two main components of making the perfect bridal look and Tampa has all the materials and talent to provide you with both.

The Pros and Cons of Different Bridal Hair

Every bride dreams of the perfect big day and of course, they dream to look their best too. Choosing the perfect bridal hair is a must but it is easier said than done. With the many choices, how can a bride just pick one? A bride has to consider a hairstyle that looks great on her, will look great in photos, will match the wedding dress and one that can last the entire day.

So, which one should you have for your bridal hair? Should you go with the updo, hair down or half updo?

  • The Updo
The classic updo is the most common bridal hair there is. However, some women feel like it’s already too traditional and there are some updo styles that are overdone. Talk to your hairdresser about your updo options as there are so many styles to choose from nowadays.

The best thing about the updo is that it holds its shape all day and looks great in photos. The only worry with updos is that it can look boring in the front and tends to be heavy for people with thick and long hair. When going for the updo, make sure it looks great in all angles and keep the look soft.

  • All Hair Down
Having all hair down is a gorgeous hair style especially if you have long hair. It’s very comfortable and not heavy at all. However, having your hair down is risky because it’s nearly impossible to keep its shape and form. By the end of the day, it can get messy and it can be a hassle to keep touching your hair and fixing it.

If you do choose this hair style, make sure you allot time to do some hair retouches throughout the event. This should help your hair stay in place especially when there’s cameras everywhere.

  • Half Updo
With the half updo bridal hair, you get the best of both worlds. You get to secure half of your hair with pins and then keep half of the hair loose. Well, with the half updo, there’s always a risk. The upper half can hold its shape but the bottom part may get messy.

If you’re not comfortable with all hair down nor the complete updo, then you should feel more comfortable with the half updo. But, do be sure that this style looks great on you. Some women's faces look bigger with this style.
To know the best bridal hairstyle that will be perfect for you, do a test run with your chosen hairdressers. Test out each style and see what looks best.

The Right Bridal Hair Color

Wedding services

There are a lot of things that a bride needs to do for her wedding day: dress fittings, food tastings, guest lists, rehearsal dinners, and of course, make-up and hairstyle trials. The biggest mistake that a bride can do is to take for granted that one thing that can brighten up her face: bridal hair.

Your wedding may be months away, but still, you have to make plans about your bridal hair as early as now. Will you grow your hair out, cut it short, or wear it up?  What hair color would best accentuate your features for the most natural look? Everything must be planned accordingly.

Here is a checklist of what you need to do to find that perfect bridal hair color.

  1. Consult your hair color stylist at least three months before your wedding day. Consultations are important because these are the venues where you can discuss how you’re going to wear your hair and what kind of hair color you want. Three months is the window that you need in case you first appointment does not end the way you want it to. You can make several appointments and consultations until you get your desired hair color.
  2. Bring your veil and other hair accessories during your consultations. This will help your hair color stylist formulate his or her opinions. If your veil contains floral accents or shimmery stones, hair color can be adjusted to make those details stand out.
  3. If you want to have highlights for your bridal hair, have them done at least ten days before the wedding. The highlights look better after the color adheres to the hair. It usually takes seven to ten days for that to happen. Also, wait two days after you highlight treatment before you shampoo your hair. The color should settle before you wash your hair. It will also be helpful if you wash your hair with a shampoo that is safe for color-treated hair.
  4. Last but not the least, keep your hair well-conditioned. Moisturized hair is healthy hair, and healthy hair makes hair color stand out.

Your hair is the most important accessory that you will have on your wedding day. Make the most out of it with the right tone of hair color.
