Are You Eligible for A Driver's License Reimbursement?

If you are not aware, there are instances where you can claim a driver’s license reimbursement. This is when you be refunded for your driver’s license fees. However, there is an eligibility guideline to follow before making a refund. Also, you should have the right reason to do so when you request a refund.

For some people, driver’s license reimbursement is really not necessary anymore as they can do away with the cash. They’ll prefer not being hassled with the process. But, there are people who want to get the money they should have in the first place. It’s their right anyway. Plus, the process of requesting a refund isn’t that much of a hassle too.

Who is eligible to make a drivers license reimbursement? Look at the list below:

  • Those who paid through cheque and credit card, with the bank not clearing the payment yet, are not eligible to request for drivers license reimbursement.
  • If the license is penalized or suspended, the driver cannot request for a refund.
  • Only the owner of the license can make the refund request. The next of kin can only make the request on behalf of the license holder in case of death.

·
If you have incurred any administrative fees that you haven’t paid yet, this will be deducted from the total amount of refund you will get. Next, what are the reasons why you’d want to get a drivers license refund?

  • Voluntary Surrender- When you decide to surrender your license. The fees will be calculated based on the year the license covers.
  • Deceased Estate- When the holder of the license dies, the next of kin is allowed to make a refund for the license fee.
  • Change of Concession Status- When the license holder is an eligible concession card holder on the date when the concession was granted to the person.
  • Payment Error- When there was a payment error made and the license holder had to pay for the driver’s license renewal twice. One should attach the original receipt to the refund application.

When it comes to driver and vehicle services, you can also get a refund for the riding assessment fee. But you have to give the notice of cancellation for assessment booking at least two working days before you can get the refund. If you don’t follow this protocol, you won’t get any refund. In any case, it is always best that you consult with your local state traffic department or talk to a lawyer about these issues.
