The Best Ways to Clean Car Interiors

Have you ever left food in your car, forgot about it and only remembered when your car started to smell? Well, the same scenario can happen again even without leaving rotten food in your car. It is important that you always clean your car interiors to avoid foul odors and accumulation of dust and dirt.

The interior of your car is highly prone to getting dirty easily. The dust settles on your car covers, the kids can spill food and drinks on your car rugs and the debris from your shoe will stay stuck on your car pedals. If you don’t know how to clean your car interiors, you will be in for a treat—a horrible treat at that.

How to Clean Your Car?

1. Clean Your Dashboard

When cleaning the dashboard, you can use a soft cloth or baby wipes to wipe the dust off. Do not scrub the dashboard because this can leave scratches. Also, do not wax the dashboard as it may cause reflections on a sunny day which can interfere with your driving.

Image2. Vacuum the Car

Vacuuming the car interiors is the most important step. First, remove the car mats and car covers and vacuum them separately. After that, use a soft nozzle to vacuum the hard to reach places in your car.  Vacuum your car pedals, these things are filthy. You can also vacuum the doors and gearbox but use a soft brush attachment.

3. Brush and Vacuum the Carpets

If you’re using car carpets, pull them out first. Use a hard brush for the fibers and then vacuum it. Never sponge the carpet because the dust will settle deeper. You can mix a gallon of water with a cup of vinegar and apply the mixture on the carpet for an hour. Then, once the carpet is dry, scrub and wash with cold water.

4. Use Baking Soda for Leather Car Seats

If you have leather car covers, you must be careful when cleaning it. Improper cleaning methods can destroy the leather. What you can do is mix a cup of water and two tablespoons of baking soda and use the mixture to clean the leather covers. Apply the mixture using only soft fabric like wool. If there are stains on your leather car covers, you can use a cuticle remover.

5. Have A Car Trash Can

Always have a small trash can inside the car. This will help you clean and maintain the car.

Cleaning your car interiors can be tough work only if you allow it to be that way. If you have kids, teach them simple ways to help keep the car clean too.
