Will It Be Best to Go for Moving Truck Rentals or Move Things Yourself?

It’s time to make the move, but you’re on the fence about making the move yourself or going for moving truck rentals. This is a common question that most movers ask. But the answer to the question isn’t as simple as just picking your own effort over paying a U-Haul dealer to help you. There are plenty of factors to consider here.

Generally, if you’re just moving across town, it may be best for you to just make the move alone, since the distance is short anyway. However, if you’re moving across cities or countries, then moving truck rentals is the best solution. To better weigh your options, here are the factors you will need to look at:

·         Your things- How many do you have? That’s because the amount of stuff you have will decide the moving truck you will have to rent from the U-Haul dealer. Further, apart from the size, it will help you determine a good estimate for the entire cost of the truck rental too. You should know that U-Haul trucks can take on things for 1-2 bedrooms, 2-3, 3-4, and 4 and over bedrooms as well as an apartment.

·         The distance- How far will the move be? This is also a cost determiner with moving truck rentals. Of course, the farther the distance, the more expensive it will be. You should also think about if you’re hiring one-way or return. One ways are 50% more expensive. That will cover the truck’s gas costs and mileage going back without carrying anything. Anyhow, a U-Haul dealer has distance calculators to give you estimates.

Basically, these are the two cost determiners that you need to factor in when making a decision. However, cost isn’t everything. You do have to consider the effort in moving, including packing, loading and unloading, which can really be tiresome.

If you can get friends and family to help you with this, then moving yourself shouldn’t be that much difficult at all. However, if everyone’s busy, including you, it may best to seek the help of professional movers to make your move easier and enjoyable at the same time.

Also, you have to see if you have tons of fragile things that need special handling? Do you feel confident that you can move your things safely to your next home? Or better yet, do you have the big of a vehicle to carry the load? If you don’t, you’ll go back and forth and it will just add up to the gas expenses.
Take all these factors into consideration and decide if moving truck rentals is the best way to go. If it is, then contact a reputable U-Haul dealer in your area and get your estimate.
