Tips that Help Computer Moving With Ease

index
The company has decided to finally move to another location, a bigger and better one. But before you get too excited, how can you start computer moving without consuming too much time and effort? And also, how can you make sure that you don’t leave anything behind that can risk exposing your company’s data and information.

Computer moving isn’t just about packing up and putting things into boxes. You may need to hire a moving company that knows how to pack things properly and put them in specialty boxes. You see, computers and computer parts need to be packed the right way with the use of non-static packing materials, bubble wraps and other packing tools.

So, what are the steps involved in computer moving? What are the things you should focus on?
  • Data Protection- The first and foremost thing that you should do is to make a backup of all your important data. You can store it in a USB flash drive, external hard drive, DVD or even use a cloud storage. It doesn’t really matter as long as you are able to make multiple backups. This is to safeguard your data just in case the computers get damaged during the move.
  • Empty the Computers- When computer moving, you must remove all the equipment inside the computer such as media cards, disks and ports. If you’re moving printers, remove the ink cartridges. The point is, you must try to remove all the equipment or any pieces that may move or become detached.
  • Organize the Cables- You will deal with tons of cables when doing computer moving and the thing is, you have to remember each one of them. The best way to organize these cables is to use twist ties and some masking tape. Label the cables accordingly as to not mix them up. Also, make sure that you don’t pull or yank the cables from the computer equipment; this can damage your cables permanently. Be cautious about cables tied tightly and bent when stored.

Now if you’re willing to hire a moving company to help you with the job, you may want to request that they transport through a car. A van may be more spacious but it also means that there is more space for the equipment to move around. Hence, there is a higher possibility that the goods can be damaged during the move.
