Self-Storage to Solve Problems with Decreasing Home Storage Space

Our frequent visits to shopping centers make us bring lots of stuff at home. When these tiny things accumulate, it is not impossible that we’ll wake up one morning and see that we don’t have enough storage space anymore.

The problem with decreasing storage space is very common nowadays. You may heard of self-storage facilities to solve this problem. However, a lot of us still do not quite understand the role of self-storage in increasing our home storage space.

What is self-storage anyway?

Self-storage is basically made up of three different yet interrelated processes: packing, organizing, and storing.

Packing. Boxes is the primary component needed when packing. Storage facilities offer packing services but they come with a fee. The thing is, you can save money by packing things yourself. Just remember one thing: maximize the storage space of the boxes you will use. Make sure you also label them properly so you know where to find things if you’ll need them in the future.

Organizing. Aside from using proper labels, you can also use uniformly sized boxes so it is easy to stack them on top of one another. Not only will your things look organized this way, you will also maximize the use of every square foot of your self-storage unit.

Storage. This is where the storage facilities come in as they are the ones who will be storing your things. Different storage facilities have different terms and conditions. It is important that you understand these by heart before signing any lease agreement. For instance, some storage facilities do not allow other people to go inside rented self-storage units so it is very likely that you will clean up your unit every now and then. It is also necessary to tell the management if you have delicate and sensitive items like paper works, documents, paintings, etc. so that they can control the temperature of the self-storage unit accordingly.

The best way to find good storage facilities is to ask friends and family members for referrals. If they have first-hand experience, the better. It is preferable to check the security provisions of storage facilities, too, for safe keeping.

Getting Ready for the Move

There is so much to do in preparation for a move: setting up mail forwarding, changing over utilities, and acquiring moving supplies, and so on. The move itself is really the easy part as you’ll spend most of your time packing and unpacking. If you want everything else to go as smoothly as possible, you’ll need to prepare well. It’s a time-consuming and a detailed process, but it’ll ultimately make your move significantly simpler and less stressful.

·         Moving supplies. Make sure you have a permanent black marker. Mark all boxes so you can easily find your items once you move into your new home. You also need to purchase packing tapes and a dispenser. You’ll have many boxes to fill and close and you’ll want this process to be as simple as possible. Moving supplies such as paper pads and other wrapping items is a huge help in keeping your items in good condition even after the long travel; it serves as the shock absorber, protection, and a seal.

·         Moving boxes. Aside from the packing and moving supplies, your moving boxes are the most important items on the list. However, there are some instances when you are able to cut costs on buying boxes by using some of the containers as boxes. Moving boxes come in a variety of sizes and you’ll need a variety of sizes to pack all of your items. Make sure you select the right box for the right item. Putting all handy items in smaller or specifically a file box will ease up your search for documents in emergency cases.

·         Moving supplies shops. There are a lot of places to buy moving supplies, but boxes and tape can add up to quite a bit of money. You can avoid this additional cost by hitting up one of quite a few places handing out free boxes or those that sell moving supplies at a cheaper price. An average retailer may be able to provide you with some cheaper items and you’ll be able to find a greater range of items as well

If you get down to the wire and need help with packing and moving, enlist friends, neighbors, relatives or colleagues to lend a hand.

Common Causes of Air Conditioning Repair

Common problems with existing air conditioners result from faulty installation, poor service procedures, and inadequate maintenance. Knowledge on what air conditioning is and how air conditioning works may help you understand what a technician is referring to when you need to discuss the options for the correcting a problem. Improper installation of an air conditioning system can result in leaky ducts and low airflow. Many times, the refrigerant charge does not match the manufacturer’s specifications. If proper refrigerant charging is not performed during installation, the performance and efficiency of the unit is impaired. Let’s take problems one by one.

·         Low refrigerant. Refrigerant is the chemical that cools the air. Low refrigerant may indicate a leak or problem with the refrigerant system. If your air conditioning system needs to be recharged with refrigerant, typically that means there is a leak. Remember that the performance and efficiency of your air conditioner is greatest when it has ample refrigerant. That is why in air conditioning repair, knowing when the refrigerant charge exactly matches the manufacturer’s specification, and is neither undercharged nor overcharged.

·         Frozen coil. A frozen coil indicates a problem with the airflow, such as restrictions caused by dirty air filters or blocked return air ductwork. When it’s humid outside, check the condensate drain to make sure it isn’t clogged and is draining properly. Room air conditioners may not drain properly if not mounted level.

·         Electric control failure. Air conditioning repair is common for this case when the compressor and fan controls can wear out, especially when the air conditioner turns on and off frequently. This commonly happens when a system is oversized. Due to the corrosion of wire and terminals, electrical and contacts can be a problem and may need to be checked and repaired. Another problem related to this is the outside fan. The outside fan is responsible for transferring the heat from your home to the outside air. If the fan on the outside unit doesn’t run, proper heat transfer is not taking place and the air conditioning compressor may overheat and trip the safety overload. When the compressor gets damaged, then expensive air conditioning repair is expected.

Air conditioning repairs can be lessened or avoided when you are knowledgeable of your air conditioning parts and that of the sensitive areas. To know more about air conditioning repair, consult a professional.

Bathroom Remodeling 101: Which Cabinets to Choose?

Bathroom remodeling is not just about improving how the space looks. It is also about using the given space wisely. As such, installing fixtures and furniture in bathroom should be thought of meticulously. Making careful choices regarding bathroom cabinets is therefore a must for every homeowner.

There are three different types of bathroom cabinets that you can choose from. Remember to choose wisely according to your needs and to the space you have in your bathroom.

1.       Wall-Mounted Bathroom Cabinets

Wall-mounted bathroom cabinets come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are space-savers in the sense that you can put them above other fixtures like lavatories, toilet bowls, and the likes.

Wall-mounted bathroom cabinets are generally very heavy aside from the weight of their contents. This is the reason why wall-mounted cabinets should be hung correctly and installed using builder-standard methods. Most homeowners prefer to call professional help when installing this type of bathroom cabinets.

2.       Floor-Ceiling Bathroom Cabinets

Ever saw bathroom cabinets that stretch from floor to the ceiling? Yes, there exist such cabinets, hence the name “floor-ceiling bathroom cabinets.” They are also space savers in the sense that they maximize the wall space. Still, however, there are instances when cabinet makers fail to do this. It is important to choose cabinet makers wisely if you want to install floor-ceiling bathroom cabinets.

3.       Ridge Bathroom Cabinets

If wall-mounted bathroom cabinets are hung on walls, ridge bathroom cabinets are placed from the floor up to the middle of the ceiling. They are often below sinks or lavatories, unlike wall-mounted cabinets which are placed above. Care is also needed when installing this type of bathroom cabinets because plumbing needs to be considered.

Aside from the space that will be consumed by bathroom cabinets, another consideration in bathroom remodeling is the material of the bathroom cabinets to be installed. Materials of bathroom cabinets must be strong and durable since they would be exposed to moisture and other forms of water damage.

Make your bathroom remodeling worthwhile. Invest in quality bathroom cabinets.

Understanding Transmission Repair

Transmission repair can cause a lot of anxiety for most people. That’s because it doesn’t usually happen too often, and when it does, it means you are required to spend a lot. There is no doubt that transmission repairs can be expensive but it’s not so much money when you consider what’s involved in the repairs. Today’s automatic transmissions consist of hundreds of individual components. Suring a major repair, each on is removed, cleaned and inspected compared to that of the manual transmission where few parts are dismantled because of their connections.

Transmission often leak from a loose pan, caused when bolts aren’t properly tightened after a filter is changed. Alternatively, drain plugs will leak when they aren’t adequately secured after changing or flushing the transmission fluid. Although both leaks have an easy fix, they can cause major damage if they aren’t addressed.  Low levels of transmission fluid are by far the most common cause of transmission repair. The seals in the transmission of drive shaft may become faulty and leak fluid. Occasionally, transmission gasket seals may need to be replaced to seal the leaks in the transmission. Generally speaking, symptoms of low fluid levels will include gear spillage or slow shifting in the event fluid is very old or contaminated, the fluid will need to be changed or the transmission completely flushed and refilled.

Another cause of transmission repair is the torque converter. One of the problems associated with torque converters is the worn or damaged needle bearings. If the needle bearings become warm, you will generally hear strange noises coming from the transmission while in driving gears; thus, transmission repair should be done ASAP. You may not hear the word solenoids often but the solenoids control the flow of fluid throughout the transmission. Problems with the solenoid are usually similar to those of inadequate fluid levels or fluid leaks. When you see that your transmission is not slipping, the solenoids is the next thing to check. Transmission problems is also a common cause of transmission repair. When the clutch jams, the solenoid may become locked and the amount of transmission fluid in the torque converter may not be correctly calculated. With this problem, the torque converter also appear very similar to low fluid levels. Violent shaking and high heat levels are the common signs to the need for transmission repair.

Taking care of worn out parts is the best way to avoid expensive transmission repairs.

Must-Have Furniture Pieces in Tampa

Furniture pieces are staple in every home. However, not all furniture found in one home can be found in another.

Here are the three furniture pieces that should not go missing whatever type of home one might have.

Sofas

Sofas or couches are the first piece of furniture that guests experience as soon as we invite them over. These
are wide and upholstered seats that are usually placed in the living room for sitting and reclining. A sofa is typically designed with a back and armrests. Three or four persons are the normal seating capacity of an average sofa.

There are certain factors that should be considered before finally a sofa. The most popular of which are the price, style, and of course, size. Sticking to a budget plan is very important when buying a sofa. With the high cost of living that everyone in Tampa is experiencing nowadays, we must be careful and watchful of ourselves especially with our tendencies to overspend and splurge on things that are not necessary. Next, it is important to take measurements because we do not want to spend on something that will not fit in the dimensions of our house or living room. Lastly, style should be very thought of properly before making any final decisions. The style of the sofa should match the interior decorations of the house. It should also fit the lifestyle of its owners. For instance, if you always have visitors or guests coming over, then maybe it is time to choose a sofa bed.

Dining Sets

The dining set is the center piece of any dining area. It becomes the most important furniture in the house once the season of social gatherings and celebrations begin. The dining set is where the food is served. As such, comfortability is of prime significance when hosting a lunch, dinner, and even tea parties.

As when choosing a sofa, there are also considerations when dealing with the dining set of your choice. For one, dining sets should fit in the style of your dining room and the house, in general. You need to decide whether you would want a contemporary, traditional, or country style dining set. You should also take into consideration the budget, of course, and the people who will be constantly using it. For instance, if you have a toddler in the household, you should not choose a style that will be hard to clean. If you expect a busy dining area because you always have a lot of people coming over, then choose something that is fab yet comfy.

Cabinets

There are a lot of cabinets that are found in an average Tampa household. There are kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, bedroom cabinets, etc. The primary function of these cabinets, of course, is for storage. Nevertheless, that does not mean that you should sacrifice its aesthetic quality.

Interior designers often recommend having a unified theme, style, and design when dealing with home cabinets. These means that while there are differences in how cabinets in different areas of the house would look, they are still properly coordinated and not totally detached from each other. This is essential in creating a unified theme for your whole home.

Take Good Care of Your Swimming Pool through Proper Maintenance

Owning a swimming pool is a dream for many. We see how fun having a swimming pool is in almost every
movie that we watch: families cooling off and playing together, friends coming over for outdoor pool parties, and a fun way to exercise and brush off those unwanted carbs. Owning a pool is G-R-E-A-T! But are you ready for the daily swimming pool care and maintenance that having one entails?

Swimming pool maintenance is fairly simple but it should be done consistently to be able to get the most out of your pool, and to extend your pool’s life. The key is to avoid problems NOT to take care of them once they are already there. Repairing cracked and corroded swimming pools are very costly and you surely do not want to shed extra dollars over these with the current state of the country’s economy.

Daily Swimming Pool Care for Private Pool Owners

Here are some things you need to ensure for you to have a well-maintained pool:

1. Maintain proper chlorine levels. Chlorine kills bacteria in the water. It also prevents the development of algal bloom. Adding chlorine DAILY should be your top priority when doing swimming pool maintenance. You can choose from the following methods of chlorine addition:

·         Manual placement – you can put four to six pieces of 3 inch slow dissolving stabilized chlorine tablets in your skimmers once a week or add granular chlorine or quick chlorine tabs to your pool skimmers every day.
·         Chlorine floater (with slow dissolving chlorine tabs inside) – you can just leave it floating in the pool and refill the chlorine tabs when necessary.

·         Automatic chlorinator – set the dial to the recommended daily chlorine reading and let it run for as long as you need it to.

2. Run the pool filter at least 8 to 10 hours a day. The best time frame for swimming pool maintenance, however, is turning the pool filter for 24 hours. If it is not possible to set the pool filter running for 24 hours, opt to run it during the day instead of at night especially if you have an inline chlorinator. This means that your pool can still maintain proper chlorine level.

Other Reminders for Swimming Pool Care and Maintenance

Vacuum and skim your pool once a week to remove dirt and debris. Change your filters regularly and make sure that you grease all O rings in your system to avoid cracks and abrasions. Remove anything that is rusty: diving boards, ladders, handrails, etc.

Swimming pool care and maintenance can be tricky. But once you get the hang of it, you will get to enjoy your pool every second of the day.

4.       Do not overload boxes to conserve space. You may risk damaging your properties in the process.

Tips When Storing Your Items

After properly packing the items, you are now set to go to the storage facility. Here are some tips when stacking the boxes inside a self storage unit:

1.       Make a blueprint of where you have placed your boxes, as well as the things that are inside them.

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Hairstyle

Every woman deserves to look her best during her wedding day. To help all the brides out there for that special day, here are some tips on how to choose the perfect hairstyle for the wedding.

Wedding Hairstyle Tip # 1: Decide if it's a daytime or evening wedding.

There are hairstyles that go specifically for daytime and evening activities. Brides should decide as soon as possible if they prefer a day or evening wedding. A day ceremony is usually considered as an informal affair so brides can wear their hair down and showcase some loose curls. Curls are perfect for that whole romantic look and are best whether the hair is short with all-over curls or long with cascading curls. However, rules of wedding hairstyles change when it comes to a night wedding. Thus, it is best to consult with a hairstylist about this.  But to be safe, one can opt to have an up do. Up dos are wedding hairstyles that are perfect for all wedding situations. They are also best known for being able to show a bride’s radiant face as these hairstyles sweep hair off the face.

Wedding Hairstyle Tip # 2: Choose your wedding gown first before deciding on your hairstyle.

Your wedding hairstyle should complement your wedding gown. Thus, professional hairstylists suggest that the perfect time to plan any wedding hairstyle is after you have selected your gown. Certain shapes and fit of wedding gowns go with certain hairstyles. For instance, fitted gowns call for elegant and smooth hairstyles, whereas flowing long gowns are better suited for softer ones. Fabrics are also helpful in determining the right wedding hairstyle. Light fabrics will complement wispy curls and textured hair, while heavy fabrics demand structured barrel curls or smooth hair. Notice how a chiffon wedding dress looks very beautiful when the bride wears a loose pouf in the back?

Wedding Hairstyle Tip # 3: Visit bridal fairs.

Aside from a trusted hairstylist from her hair salon, there are a lot of other rich resources that brides can utilize to help her in her decision making process. Bridal magazines are rich sources of information. Soon to be wives can also go to bridal fairs and other wedding expos. Not only can they see various wedding hairstyles, they can also get to talk to various wedding specialists regarding several wedding elements such as gowns, flowers, entourage, reception, etc. But of course, nothing beats the advice that a personal hairstylist can give. Just make sure that the hairstylist is a professional.

With these tips, you are now ready to be the best bride for your groom!

Divorce and Child Support

Divorce has never been an easy thing. Aside from the emotional turmoil that both sides undergo, the emotional burden becomes larger if there are children caught in between. If you have kids and are planning to divorce your partner, then you must know about child support issues and concerns.

The first thing you need to do is find yourself a good family lawyer in Tampa. Not only will a good family lawyer help you out through the whole divorce process, a good family lawyer will also provide you with legal information and resources regarding child support. The most basic things you need to know is how to get child support, how to make child support payments, how these payments are calculated, how child support is modified, how to enforce child support, and what happens if any of the parties fail to pay the agreed upon child support.

When parents file for a divorce, one of them ultimately becomes the custodial parent of the child. The custodial parent is the one that the child lives with. The court orders the non-custodial parent to give child support to the custodial parent.

Basically, child support is a portion of the income of the non-custodial parent that is used to cover the daily needs of the child. All 50 states in the United States have made child support guidelines based from a lot of factors including parent’s income and ability to pay, the financial needs of the child, as well as the minimum amount of support required to maintain a good standard of living for the child. Child support includes basic needs such as food clothing and shelter, health or medical care, uninsured medical expenses, educational costs such as tuition, miscellaneous, books, etc., child care, transportation and travelling expenses, entertainment, and even extracurricular activities such as summer camps and sports.

If a parent fails to give child support, then the law can penalize him or her by withholding supports from tax refunds and even as far as seizing real estate and personal properties. Other consequences can be garnishing wages, suspending occupational licenses (necessary to practice medicine, teaching, etc.) and business licenses, as well as revoking of driver’s license. Furthermore, if the child support involved is amounting to more than $2,500, then the court may deny issuance of passport and visa. The court may also hold the delinquent parent in contempt of court and issue a jail term.

There are lot of issues concerning child support in Tampa. What if one of the parent moves to another state? What if the non-custodial parent loses his or her job? What if the non-custodial parent encounters an accident? In general, courts in Tampa and the rest of the country is very supportive of child support enforcement. As such, any excuse from the part of the non-custodial parents may not be recognized. However, if the need may arise, the non-custodial parent may ask for petition from the court.

For deeper discussions and clarifications regarding this matter, consult with a family lawyer in Tampa.

Traffic Lawyers: Your Refuge from Traffic Violations

There are many ways in which a traffic lawyer can help you when you are charged with a traffic violation. They can listen to the details of your situation and analyze your legal position. An experienced attorney will evaluate all legal defenses available in your case. They also offer the pros and cons of several alternate courses of actions. Another advantage of having a traffic lawyer is that they have pretty good relationships with prosecutors. They know their way around the court system and will use their expertise to your advantage.

In today’s age, speeding is just one of hundreds of offenses that can result in a traffic ticket. Most traffic tickets can either be classified as infractions, which are minor offenses, or violations, which are major offenses. Traffic tickets issued for infraction would include parking violations, non-moving violations, distracted driving, and running a stop sign and speeding. Major violations are much more severe than infractions. Major traffic violations include reckless driving, hit-and-run accidents, and driving under the influence. These types of traffic tickets may result in fines, jail time, suspension of driving privileges, and criminal prosecution.

A lawyer who specializes in traffic offenses knows the players and the ever-changing laws and the processes by which cases are resolved in local traffic courts. Prosecutors are more likely to dismiss the charges against you when a traffic lawyer represents you. Prosecutors often take advantage of people who aren’t represented by legal counsel. An experienced traffic lawyer works to obtain the best possible outcome for your case. Their goal is to get the citation dismissed or at least reduced to a non-moving violation.

Take time to meet with your traffic lawyer. A well-experienced traffic lawyer will help you to understand the legal battle before you and will guide you through the legal process. When you are interviewing potential traffic lawyers, be sure to take note of their experience in handling similar cases as yours. Be sure to find out how much experience he or she has in the area of law that applies to your case.

Consider barrier-free designs and products. They make life easier for children, pregnant women, seniors, as well as individuals with disabilities. They’ll also add to the longevity of your kitchen.

·         Need for professional help.  Even if you’re going to be a DIYer, unless you’re building your own kitchen cabinets and doing your own electrical and plumbing, you’re going to have to work with a professional at some point. Pros are available to help you with everything from contracts and permits to space planning, budgets, choosing finishes and fixtures, shopping, ordering products, and helping you set up your kitchen from start to finish.

·         Finished product. Once you construction is over, there is always this little list of details missing or forgotten. It is inevitable that the contractor may have to make multiple visits back to the house to finish some of the items such as furnishing kitchen cabinets, checking lights and some key ingredients.

Remember that the biggest factor influencing what type of kitchen you come up with will be the shape of the room itself. Remember to make early estimates so as not to encounter major problems with your kitchen remodeling project.
